Elim Jim trained and served as a minister with the Elim Pentecostal Church from 1987 - 2003. Specialising in worship, children's

John Beales John Beales Christian Illusionist and entertainer. JB brings his own special brand of ministry through Illusion. JB has the same initals as Jim Bailey. He is also Jims good mate and highly recommended.
Jims first job at his old church in Worthing years and years ago was to kick John out of the worship band becasue he couldn't sing.

The Philippine Community Fund Jane Walker is an extraordinary woman. A successful executive in Britain, she was so moved by the plight of the Filipino
‘waste-pickers’ that she gave up her comfortable European life-style, moved out to the Philippines, and dedicated her life to
giving their children the only thing that could ever lift them out of poverty - an education.
Her school stands just a few hundred yards from the dump. The smell is foul; the risk of infection is constant; what goes
on inside is truly inspiring. Anything up to a thousand children are enrolled, and all get the chance of a precious gift of
literacy and numeracy. Without those two things it is likely they will live their entire (short) lives on the dump. Several
generations have already been born, raised, married and died without ever knowing anything better than the rotting piles
of garbage from which they can scavenge a pitiful living selling pieces of plastic or glass to the recyclers.
But there is one other thing the kids get: food. As Jane herself puts it, without food, education doesn’t happen. If Jane
doesn’t feed them, they will have to earn each meal working on the dump-site, and school will not be an option. She says
that even if their parents try to persuade them to come to school, the children themselves would feel too guilty that their
siblings were working while they were not. So they get a square meal every day, and if they attend regularly enough, they
are rewarded with food to take home as well.
But it all costs money. That’s where rising food prices are beginning to hurt, and that’s why we visited Jane and her school
in our coverage of the effect the price hikes are having. At the moment she is keeping her head above water, and still able
to push ahead with plans to build a new and bigger school on slightly more sanitary land nearby. But she still desperately
needs donations, and any of you who saw our reports and were minded to sponsor one of her children, her charity is call

One thing she told me really brought home how difficult it is to make difference when the poverty you are fighting is so
severe. She said that the sister of one of the mothers at the school had uprooted her family from their home village in a
rural corner of the Philippines, and moved to live on the dump. The reason? She had heard about the school, and decided it
was the only chance of her children getting any education at all. Truly an example of the law of unintended consequences. Visit Site
